Early production Wildcat from the Saein Plant in Korea with maple neck, not the lighter and more loose grain mahogony necks that have plagued the later production Indonesian models.
The rap on Wildcats is their tone. An obsene amount of low quality wiring along with high output P90's have made these sound muddy at all volumes. This Trans black beauty came to me intact with an upgraded roller bridge and Kluson tuners. My job was to gut and replace the electronics with GFS P90's in the vintage 8.8k range, all new ultra shielded cables, and new pots with orange drop tone caps and treble bleed circuit. The results? A great playing and awesome sounding P90 semi hollow that is sweet sounding clean at moderate and low volumes, but with all the snarl and bite you expect from a P90 semi when you kick it up a few notches. It also came to me with a red lizzard stencil spray painted on to the back which had to be carefully wet sanded off. Great sounding, fun to play guitar.
